My name is Martin Walsh. I was born in Solihull 1957. I have lived in Lytham St Annes for the last thirty five years and have been retired for about the last five years.
My career was in education. I started out as a music teacher in a small secondary school and then made the transition to primary education. It was a rewarding job on the whole. The long summer holidays helped of course!
One of my main interests these days is arranging forgotten classical music using music software (Sibelius & Noteperformer) and bringing it back to life. I have a Youtube channel in which I share my labours.
A great plus living up here in the north west is the proximity of the Lake District which my wife and I have always had a great love for especially the area to the south known as Arnside and Silverdale. We are off there at every opportunity walking here, there and everywhere. Our 7yr old half-size golden lab, Molly, always comes along too of course.
I also love cookery, both reading about it and doing it! In the last two or three years I have explored the world of vegetarian cooking and it's huge variety of flavours and textures. I don't think I could ever go to the extremes of veganism as I love dairy and fish far too much and I still enjoy the odd steak but nothing like as often as I used to.
I have three children, Charlotte, Jamie and Sophie who are all very different to each other thankfully. We're still waiting for a grandchild. Fingers are always crossed.
